Who makes better decisions – men or women?

It may come as no surprise that men make decisions faster – but who makes the better decision?

That depends. Dr. Zachary Estes, of Warwick University in England, says women are more open to suggestion. Men can see the black and white, while women see the shades of gray.

Dr. Estes says there are advantages to both techniques, depending on the situation. A male doctor is more likely to make a quicker and more confident diagnosis. That can make a big difference in a life-threatening situation or in treating a serious disease early. On the other hand, a female doctor might consider more possibilities and alternative treatment and pick up on something the male doctor might have missed.
