How do you feel about your in-laws? What that says about your marriage...

Do you get along with your in-laws?

If not you may be headed for divorce court. A recent study in the Journal Family Relations started following newlyweds in 1986. By what would have been there 26th anniversary 20% of husbands who had issues with their in-laws had hit the road.

The daughters-in-law were a little trickier. For many of the women, a close relationship with the in-laws backfired. That's because women who form a strong bond with their husband’s mom or dad tend to be less unified with their husband.

Regardless of how you feel about your in-laws it's important for both man and wife to put your relationship first. It's a good idea to make an effort to stand up for your spouse with your own parents or with theirs. Keep it cordial and remember who you'll be waking up with in the morning.
