Are nearsighted people really smarter than the rest of us?


If your vision stinks – look at the bright side. You’re smarter than those 20/20 people...

Several studies have supported the theory that nearsighted people outsmart others on intelligence tests. New research from Copenhagen University has discovered the more vision correction the subject needed, the higher they scored on the IQ test.

This near-sighted smarts phenomenon is now being linked to what is called “near-work.” Infants and children who need to get close up to examine their world tend to absorb and retain more information, which helps to explain their higher scores and level of education completed.
