There are a few superfoods in season right now. What to stock up on...

Every season has it’s crop - and January has some super-healthy picks...

Here are some great options at the right price in the produce section this month:

• Clementines: Just one of these little gems packs 60 percent of your daily vitamin C. They’re portable and easy to peel and eat or toss into a salad.

• Brussels Sprouts: Learn to love them. They fight inflammation and help protect against certain cancers. They’re also rich in fiber, potassium and iron.

• Grapefruit: They’ll help to keep you full AND lower cholesterol. A great choice if you’re dieting.

• Kale: Eat it raw or sautéed for a healthy dose of vitamins A, C, iron, potassium and calcium.

• Carrots: They really are good for your eyes and can help to curb cravings.

• Parsnips: These super-roots add a sweet, nutty flavor to winter soups and stews.
