Gluten has been getting a lot of bad press. So does it deserve it?

Just because Gwyneth Paltrow and Lady Gaga don’t like gluten doesn’t necessarily mean you should kick it to the curb...

While it’s true that 7% of people in the United States have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, the rest of us may have something to gain from gluten – less weight.

According to Bonnie Taub-Dix, author of “Read It Before You Eat It,” shunning foods with gluten, such as pasta and whole grains, could lead to weight gain. These foods boost our sense of satisfaction and eliminating them from your diet often leads to more hunger and unnecessary snacking.
