Are men bigger babies than women when they’re sick?

If you think most men are big babies when they’re sick – you might be right...

But now they have a scientific excuse. A recent study found that men tend to get hit a bit harder than women when the flu or another ailment strikes. If a fever is involved, men run a bit hotter and their illness will probably last a little longer.

The man-flu phenomenon is not exclusive to humans. Dr. Oliver Restif, author of the study, explains that males tend to be the weaker sex across the range of animal species when they’re sick. He said that maintaining the ability to mate is more important to males than getting better, which lowers the chance of rapid recovery. For females, it’s the other way around.
