When it’s hot outside – your refrigerator can get stressed out...

Your refrigerator has to work overtime in the summer heat...

Here are a few things you can do to reduce some of that wear and tear and save some energy:

• Keep it clean: The front grill attracts lint and dust and reduces air flow to the condenser. Clean that with a brush or vacuum a few times a year.

• Give it space: If you can, leave a few inches between the wall and the refrigerator so air can circulate freely.

• Cover your food: Unwrapped food and beverages release moisture and make the compressor work harder.

• Don’t overload it: Adding too many room temperature items can really stress your fridge. Try to avoid adding six-packs and large containers of beverages all at once.
