Are you in a high-risk group for Social Media Depression?

If you are prone to depression, a pre-teen or teenager, or a woman – you could be at risk of developing Social Media Depression...

Although there’s been no formal definition to diagnosing SMD, mental health experts are taking a legitimate approach in identifying a growing number of people who are suffering. In order to determine whether social media is hurting your psyche – consider why you use it and how it makes you feel:

• Do you check Facebook to procrastinate or keep tabs on other people you no longer see in person?

• Do you feel left out when you follow someone on Twitter and they don’t follow you back?

If you notice that your mood has been altered for the worse after spending time with social media – that’s not a good sign and you’ll need to detach and limit your virtual socializing.
