The next time you read a story to a young child – use your finger...

There’s something you can do while reading to a young child that could really sharpen their future reading potential...

Follow along with your finger. By getting in the habit of pointing to each word and line as you read, toddlers and preschoolers will actually grasp the left to right, top to bottom sequences sooner.

Non-readers who were taught to follow along with the finger were also faster at recognizing words, capitalizations and punctuations than average beginners.
