If your pet wears a flea and tick collar – you need to hear this warning...

That flea and tick collar on your pet could be really dangerous for you and your children...

According to a study by the Natural Resources Defense Council, adults who play with a cat or dog while it's wearing a flea and tick collar are exposed to up to 500 times the Environmental Protection Agency's safe level of pesticides. For children, those levels can be 1,000 times higher than the safe level.

Pediatrician Jerome Paulson, says pet owners with small children should consider using oral flea and tick protection for their pets. He says pills that pets take internally are a safer option than the collars which release toxic chemicals into the fur.
