Are you really protected by that sunscreen? The 5 spots most of us miss...

The last time you applied sunscreen – chances are you missed a spot...

Hard-to-reach spots and body parts we can’t see are just as important to protect. Here are some places you may have missed:

• Behind the Knees and the crooks of your elbows: That skin is extra tender and needs protection.

• Feet: 50% of volunteers missed the tops of their feet in a recent application evaluation. Skin cancers on the foot and ankle often go unnoticed.

• Hands: Your palms and fingers probably get some – just don’t forget the sensitive exposed areas. The backs of your hands are exposed more than any other body part.

• Ears: If you’ve got short hair, or wear it back – that’s the first spot to burn.

• Scalp: Just because you have hair – you’re not protected. If you’re not wearing a hat you need to apply sunscreen to your head. Melanoma on the scalp and the neck results in much quicker death than melanoma that appears elsewhere on the body.
