You've heard it before - or maybe you didn't...

EAR BUDS CAN REALLY HURT YOUR HEARING!

Noise induced hearing loss can occur at any age – and ear buds deliver the damage like a syringe. Hearing damage numbers are still going up and the age group is going down. 1 out of 5 teens suffer from some form of hearing loss.

Anything over 85 decibels does the damage. A typical rock concert puts you at 105 decibels – which starts causing damage to unprotected ears after just 4 minutes. A typical school lunch room clocks in around 88 or 89 decibels. Ear buds – 110 to 120 decibels at full volume – keep them at 6 and limit use to one hour a day. Headphones are a much better choice – and we should really keep the volume at 60% or less. If you have to raise your voice to be heard – the volume is too high.
