Before you pack up the summer clothes - ask yourself these questions...

It’s time to pack up those summer clothes for the winter...

Now that summer is officially over – it’s time to switch out the wardrobe. Here are a few questions to ask yourself before they're out of sight and out of mind:

• When was the last time I wore this? If you can’t remember – it’s a waste of space.

• Can I still wear it? Some items can actually layer well with some of your winter stuff.

• Is it REALLY clean? You’ll wind up with permanent stains and moths if it isn’t.

• Hang or fold? Keep in mind that some fabrics might wind up permanently creased if they’re left folded for 6 months.

• Where should I put this? Avoid cardboard and make sure your containers are clean and lined with paper - and throw some lavender, rosemary or cedar chips in there. Unused luggage is another good option.

Once it’s all packed up – see if you can find space somewhere other than an attic or basement which are usually more prone to dampness and mildew.
