Was it something you ate?

If you think you might have food poisoning, don’t think back to your last meal...

Think back to yesterday or the day before. According to the Medicine Hunter, Chris Kilham, these bugs usually take 12 to 36 hours to kick in. Have you had any shellfish? That’s a likely culprit. The majority of shellfish we eat comes from Southeast Asia and travels on ships in cargo holds with uneven refrigeration. Maybe it was that chicken. If you could witness how chickens are processed commercially – you’d feel sick BEFORE eating them. ALWAYS wash a chicken before preparing it – along with everything it touches.

If you’d like to reduce the risk of food poisoning in your own food, spice it up a bit. Onions, garlic, basil, hot peppers and hot sauce kill bacteria and have antibiotic properties. Cooking meat and fish with these ingredients can really reduce the risk of contamination.
