Yes! Apple seeds ARE poisonous...

If you’ve ever heard that apple seeds are poisonous – it’s true...

Apple seeds contain cyanogenic acids – and if you ate too many of them, you’d have a problem. If you swallowed one or two, relax, you’ll be fine. Our bodies can detoxify small quantities of cyanide compounds. Even if you swallowed several seeds whole, you’d be okay. Chewing the seeds makes them much more toxic.

If you think a child or animal has eaten or chewed several apple seeds – get medical attention right away. Symptoms of poisoning include headache, dizziness, anxiety, confusion and vomiting. Cherry pits, peach, plums and apricot pits and the seeds in the core of a pear can also pose a problem.
