If you’re having your car serviced – I’ll tell you what to say “No thanks” to these...

Unless you’re a mechanic, you’re probably not sure what your car really needs when you have it serviced...

Here are a few common recommendations you should probably take a pass on:

• Fluid flushes. Brake and power steering fluids last the life of your car. They don’t need to be flushed unless they’re discolored or smell burnt.

• Engine oil flush. Quick-lube places often say you need this when you don’t. It can dislodge sludge and cause more problems. Have your oil CHANGED, not flushed.

• Deluxe car wash. Paint sealants, protectants, waxes and under-car treatments are worthless. They wash off the first time it rains. Stick to the standard wash.
