The next time you hit the supermarket – don’t use a CARRY basket

Even if you’re just shopping for a few things at the supermarket – push one of the big carts...

Those carry baskets could be trouble. Researchers have determined that carrying a basket makes you more impulsive – especially if your arm is bent. We move faster and make short-term decisions without thinking them through. They say when our arms are outstretched we tend to focus more and take our long-term options and goals into consideration. We might buy a few more items – but chances are they’ll be healthier choices and you’ll save yourself from another quick trip.

If you don’t believe the researchers – ask the hand basket manufacturers. Maxx Hand Held Shopping Baskets pitch their products to stores by promising to stimulate impulse buying by convenience oriented customers.
