Will your insurance company pay if your car breaks down?

Once the warranty on your vehicle expires, you’re on your own if anything goes wrong - UNLESS you have insurance for that...

Most auto insurance companies offer mechanical breakdown coverage which can add protection on top of your warranty, or help cover costs when it’s over. Of course you’ll have to pay for the coverage – and the more you pay, the more it covers. It won’t help for normal maintenance or wear and tear on your car but it will cover the big, expensive stuff.

With mechanical breakdown insurance, your rates won’t go up if you use it. Another plus is that it can be transferred with the car if you sell it.
