If you got some great new gadgets or appliances for Christmas – I’ll tell you what to do with the old ones...

If you’re making room for that great new computer, camera or appliance – that old would could help someone out...

Here are a few really good options and charities to consider before you toss something that could be very valuable to someone in need:

• Computer, printer or monitor: The National Cristina Foundation promotes the reuse of technology to enable people with disabilities, students at risk and those economically disadvantaged. Their website is www.Cristina.org.

• Cellphone, camera or iPod: RecyclingForCharities.com will sell it and donate the proceeds to the charity of your choice. Gazelle.com is another good choice and even takes video games.

• Microwaves and other appliances: Habitat for Humanity ReStores accepts donations of working appliances. Goodwill is another option and will sometimes take non-working appliances.
