How about a deck of cards for dinner?

So you think you know what that serving size should be?

Most of us have had our servings skewed a bit with the supersizing craze. The Department of Human Health and Services has some everyday item comparisons to help us out. Here’s what some common servings should really look like:

• 1 cup of salad greens should be about the size of a baseball. The same goes for a medium size fruit.

• That serving of ice cream should be baseball sized too.

• Your baked potato should be the same size as your fist.

• ¼ cup of raisins is the size of 1 large egg.

• 1 serving of cheese – 4 stacked dice.

• Margarine or spread – 1 die.

• A serving of meat or poultry should be about the size of a deck of cards.

• 3 oz. grilled or baked fish is the size of a checkbook.

• That blob of peanut butter should be the size of a ping pong ball.
