Wasabi is not just for sushi anymore...
This hot root has got some potent health benefits too. Wasabi has properties in there that can suppress bacterium responsible for stomach related diseases and even prevent food poisoning – which is why it’s commonly served with raw fish.
Finding the real thing can be tricky in our part of the world. Green-colored horseradish is often used as a substitute here and is known as “western wasabi.” Authentic wasabi is called Wasabia Japonica – that’s what you’ll want to look for in the ingredients if you’re buying it fresh.
