Giving up liquor for the month of January to detox? Don’t bother...

Are you taking part in “Janopause?”

It’s when drinkers cut out alcohol for the month of January to rejuvenate the liver. If so, it’s a futile effort, according to doctors at the British Liver Trust. Researchers have found that those who go without for a short period of time, like a month, tend to overdo it and drink in excess when that time is up.

If you don’t intend to kick liquor to the curb for good – experts say you’re better off keeping your intake in check. Aim for light to moderate consumption and try alternating alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic.
