Kids who like to virtually socialize could be compromising their real-life social skills...
A recent Stanford University study says teens who spend a lot of time switching between virtual social outlets wind at a disadvantage, socially. Experts say communication skills are learned – and there is no substitute for face-to-face communication in the flesh and good old-fashioned eye contact. Technical chats require multitasking and fiddling with devices during the conversation. The study found that these young social multi-taskers are also experiencing cognitive issues with focus and memory and ultimately wind up worse at real-life multi-tasking.
