If you’ve got a hunch someone is just not telling the truth – you could be right...
A recent UCLA study found a few really obvious mistakes most liars make without even knowing it:
• When asked a difficult question, truthful people tend to look away for a moment as they search their memory for the answer. Liars tend to have a more fixed stare.
• Are they studying you? Liars often pay very close attention to your facial expressions to see if you are buying their story.
• TMI: Liars often offer up too much information or explanations before being asked to avoid being questioned.
• Liars often start out talking slow and then speed up to get it over with.
• Dishonest people tend to touch or play with their hair or exhibit other grooming behavior when in the hot seat.
• Liars often repeat what you’ve just said to buy themselves a little more time.
The hand pictured needs a manicure, LOL! I am surprised by point 1, I thought most liars avoid eye contact. Good to know!
