There’s never really a great time for pimple – but why do the really big ones pop up at the worst times?
Steven H. Dayan, author of “Instant Beauty,” says don’t panic. You’ll need to treat that thing with an over-the-counter acne product three times over the next 24 hours. Not all zits are created equal – it’s important to get the right product for your particular pimple:
• If the bump is under the skin, you need a product with salicylic acid to decrease inflammation.
• For an elevated zit – find a product with benzoyl peroxide to kill germs.
• If it’s really huge and inflamed, you’ll also need some non-prescription 1% hydrocortisone cream. You can apply that up to 4 times over the course of the day.
Right before the big event, apply a mineral-based concealer. This will help cover any lingering redness. If the pimple is a really bad for a milestone day, like a wedding or photo shoot – a doctor might be in order. Diluted steroid injections aren’t cheap – but they can work wonders overnight.
