Dreaming can tell us a lot about what’s on our minds – and weird dreams could be a warning.
Multiple or unusual dreams could be a sign that you’re really stressed out. Sleep expert Rosalind Cartwright explains that when stress levels are high, our sleep cycle gets interrupted. She says, ideally, dreams get progressively more positive as you sleep, so you wake up in a better mood than you were in when you went to bed. When you’re stressed, you wake up more often and disrupt that process which allows unpleasant imagery to recur all night.
If you’re plagued with weird or disturbing dreams, try to get a little more sleep and avoid caffeine and alcohol close to bedtime.
