Why are human feet getting bigger and bigger?

Our feet our getting bigger - by the decade...

According to the National Shoe Retailers Association, shoe sizes for both men and women have grown about a size and a half over the past 3 decades. For women, that average size 7 is now an 8 ½. Evolution experts say our food is to blame for the big foot syndrome. The more we eat, the bigger we get – and the bigger our feet need to be to accommodate the extra weight.

Another factor is what we’re eating through childhood. Kids who eat high-density stuff during puberty, such as pizza and processed foods, are stimulating their growth hormones. Those kids are likely to end up with bigger grown-up waist sizes, hands and feet.
