Anyone can read faster - if they do this...

The next time you or your child needs to get some reading done, have a snack handy...

According to Speed Reading coach Rick Hunter, we have a speech mechanism in the brain that actually slows us down when we’re reading. That mechanism is trying to figure out how to say the word, even when you’re reading silently.

Rick says when we give our mouths something else to do while reading, we shut that mechanism off. If you chew gum or have a snack, not only will the speed of your reading improve, you’ll do a lot less rereading and absorb more information.
