Gluten-free food is all the rage and now some cosmetics are going gluten-free. So are they necessary?

There’s a hot new line of cosmetics on the shelves – gluten-free...

So are they worth it, or just a trend? According to Dr. Peter Green, director of The Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University, topical contact with gluten really shouldn’t pose a problem for people. Those who are allergic or sensitive to gluten need to ingest it to have a reaction.

There are a few gluten-free cosmetics that someone with an allergy should consider. Lipstick and lip balms will likely wind up being ingested. Gluten-free would be the way to go for those. Gluten-free mascara and eyeliners are other products you might like to try, as those products can get into your system through rubbing or washing your eyes.
