...skip the expensive silver polish and smear some toothpaste on there. It works just as well and you’ve always got some on hand. Tartar control toothpaste is the most effective – but any type will do the trick.

Toothpaste works on other tarnished metals too. Musicians often keep a tube in their instrument cases. It’s more portable, less expensive, and tastes a LOT better than metal polish.
