If you’re taking your pet to the vet – YOU need to behave...

A trip to the vet is a lot easier on you, the doctor and the other patients if your pet behaves. The same rule applies to you!

Here are a few things good human patients do in the veterinarian’s office:

• They turn off their phone. Hopefully, you wouldn’t do that during your checkup. Your pet and vet need your full attention.

• They leave their kids at home. A lot of pets are fearful and anxious in this environment – and some don’t like kids. For everyone’s safety, it should be just you and your pet at the vet.

• They keep their dog on a regular, non-retractable leash at all times.

• They keep their cats in an escape-tight container – not in their arms.

• They prepare for their visit. Make notes or take videos of any behavior concerns ahead of time. Your pet likely won’t repeat the behavior on command.

• They don’t argue. Your vet does not need a list of excuses why your pet is overfed, has bad teeth or no discipline. Acknowledge the problem and listen to the advice.
