If you have a favorite pair of shoes, give them a break!


You know those go-to shoes that are perfectly molded to your feet? 

They need a rest. According to Kathleen Hall, PhD, wearing those comfortable shoes every day can actually prevent you from relaxing. She says the nerves in your feet are constantly sending messages to your brain. When the same old shoes are hitting the same old spots, it can dull some sensitive nerves that help trigger feel-good sensations. 

Dr. Hall says we need to be alternating our shoes on a regular basis. For some extra pleasant foot stimulation, take a few minutes each day to walk barefoot on a variety of surfaces, such as grass, sand, carpeting and tile.
