Do you lie to your doctor? A lot of people do and it’s a problem...

Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth – at your next checkup...

Lying to your doctor could be a lot more serious than you think. Here is a list of lies that doctors DON’T want to hear:

• I quit smoking months ago: This may cause the physician to believe that a disease or the symptoms of a disease are progressing.

• I rarely drink: Too much drinking will cause abnormal liver tests. Your doctor will find out sooner or later. Secret drinking could also dangerously interfere with other treatments.

• I only take prescribed medications: More and more people are becoming addicted to prescription meds. Lying about it or going from doctor to doctor for more prescriptions is dangerous for both you and your doctor.

• I’m a healthy eater: This makes it harder for the doctor to determine what’s really wrong with you – or the scale you just hopped off of.

• My sex life is fine: Sure, it’s personal – but your doctor isn’t there to judge. Give him or her information they need to keep you healthy. This includes sexual function, orientation and promiscuity. All of these have important health consequences.
