There are some pretty cool things you can do with that Google search bar...

Google is a great source for information at our fingertips – and there are some Google shortcuts you might not know about...

Here are a few you might find handy:

• What movies are playing? Just type the word “movie” and your zip code into the search and you’ll get a list of everything playing in your area.

• Is your team winning? Enter your favorite sports team name and recent scores, records, standings and more will pop up for many of them.

• What’s the weather like? Type in the word “weather” and your zip code and a 5 day forecast will magically appear.

• What’s the square root of 69? Enter that phrase in your search bar and you’ll see. Google’s search bar is a pretty sophisticated calculator.

• What does that word mean? No need to go to an online dictionary – just type the word in and the definition usually appears. If not, type the word “define” before your word.

• How do I say that in Spanish? Google Translate is great for large chunks, but the Google search bar will define words or simple sentences if you type “translate” followed by the words and language you’d like.

• Need directions? Enter your current address “to” the desired address. Your map, directions and drive time will pop up.
