Which side of the car is the gas cap on?

You probably already know which side of your own car the gas cap is on...

 

...but if you’re renting or borrowing a car - or have a REALLY bad memory - there’s a way to check without leaving the vehicle. Almost all cars have a tiny little indicator right in the dash. It’s next to the gas pump icon on the gas gauge. There, you’ll find a tiny arrow pointing to the side of the car with the cap.

While you’re checking to see if that arrow is there, you might want to pull out your owner’s manual and check your other indicators too. A recent survey found that 98% of us couldn’t identify all of our dashboard lights.
