It’s still hurricane season. A message from the National Hurricane Center...

In the event of a hurricane, don’t tape your windows!

What’s a hurricane without windows criss-crossed with masking tape? Safer, according to the National Hurricane Conference. They say taping windows gives people a false sense of security. While that tape may prevent a window from shattering, it won’t stop it from breaking. Windows which have been taped tend to break into larger, deadlier shards.

Don’t bother cracking the windows open during a storm either. This will not equalize air pressure. Your best bet is to keep all windows and doors shut to keep the wind out.
