Fun, sun and antibiotics. Why they don’t mix...

You’ve probably heard that you shouldn’t drink alcohol or go in the sun if you’re on antibiotics, and it’s probably good advice.

As far as alcohol is concerned, the antibiotics increase the amount of alcohol that winds up in your bloodstream, which could lead to nausea and other unpleasantries. Both alcohol and antibiotics are tough on the liver which is another good reason to abstain.

Some antibiotics and sun don’t mix either. Ask your doctor if your prescription leaves you at risk of photosensitivity which could cause burning or other adverse reactions in the sun.
