Want to be a big shot? Write a book.

You’re an expert - at something. So why not write a book about it?

According to publisher Rick Frishman, just about anyone can do it, for under $1,000. Regardless of your trade, hobby, passion or cause, you’ve got a unique how-to perspective and there’s no reason you can’t package that knowledge in paper. If writing isn’t your strong point, Rick suggests finding a ghostwriter who’s willing to collaborate. You can also talk your book into a recording device, then transcribe it.

Whether you choose to sell your book or give it to clients or colleagues, having a book in print makes you look like an expert in your field. There are dozens of websites to help you get started in publishing and there’s a good list at RickFrishman.com/resources.
