Last week, coffee was bad for us. Why it’s good again...

What can reduce symptoms of Parkinson’s, dry eyes, constipation and possibly even stave off suicide?

Coffee can. It’s in the news again and the benefits of coffee seem to far outweigh the negatives. Here’s what some experts have found in their coffee:

* The World Journal of Psychiatry reports that those who drink five cups of coffee a day are less likely to contemplate suicide than those who drink just one.

* German scientists say coffee’s natural laxative effect helps certain patients get bowel function back to normal more quickly after surgery.

* Parkinson’s patients who were given caffeine equivalent to four cups of coffee reduced symptoms of stiffness and slow movement by as much as 15%.

Coffee drinkers in general suffer less dry eyes and allergies, fewer headaches and typically live a little longer and are happier than non-coffee drinkers. Go ahead, have another cup.
