Stale Food Saver

Don’t throw that stale food away...

It doesn’t take long for cereal, crackers or chips to get stale or mushy in the summer – but don’t toss that box just yet. You can revive most stale food with a simple trick. If it’s gone too soft – spread the contents of that box out on a cookie sheet and pop it in the oven at a low temperature for a few minutes. You can also dry crackers or cereal out a bit with the microwave – start with 30 seconds and work up from there until they’re crisp.

The same trick will work to get stale bread soft again. Just rub an ice cube over the bread to moisten it and pop it in the oven at 350 degrees for 12 minutes – or wrap the bread in a slightly damp towel and microwave in 30 second increments.
