Contrary to recent reports of a wing shortage, some experts are assuring us there will be plenty of wings to go around. While it’s true that the National Chicken Council says there were fewer fowl this year due to drought, supply and demand will most likely even things out.
Tim Petry, a livestock economist at North Dakota State University, says it’s simple economics. Prices go up a bit when there’s an industry shortage. When the price of wings take flight, demand starts to drop. He says the bottom line is, if you really want wings, there are still plenty of them out there – you might just pay a little more for them.
