Do you hate childproof caps? A few simple solutions...

Childproof caps can be maddening – especially if there are no children around to help you open them...

There are a few very easy modifications that can help reduce your pushing, pinching and turning time. According to Derek Watson, many prescription caps are now designed to be dual purpose and reversible. If you see a groove on the top of the cap, just flip that over. It’s designed to work with little effort the other way. If you don’t see a groove on the top, check the inside. Many caps have a smooth liner in there that can be popped out with a paring knife. Once the outer cap is off, you’ll be left with a more flexible push-on cap.

If you don’t have small children, you can also request non-childproof caps at your pharmacy. In most cases, they’ll make a note of that on your record and provide them for all of your prescriptions.
