A recent study found that people with higher levels of plant compounds in their system had a better attitude and were feeling more optimistic. Carotenoids were the happy compounds and the easiest way to get a healthy dose of those is through orange fruits and vegetables and green, leafy produce. Filling up on vegetation will also boost your levels of anti-oxidants, which can help to relieve stress and cheer you up a bit.
If you’d like to eat some optimism, you might need more than one salad to get the full effect. The researchers found that people who had seven portions of fruits and vegetables a day were the happiest of all.
