How long should you leave those Christmas lights on?

How long do you keep those Christmas lights on?

A recent survey looked at when people pack it all up and here are the popular dates.

• January 5th tops the list. For those who celebrate the Christmas holiday on a religious schedule, the 12 days of Christmas begin on December 25th and end on January 5th.

• New Year’s Day is the next most common undecorating day, followed by the first weekend in the new year.

• If you’re in a New York state of mind, you can follow the Rockefeller Center schedule. They’ll leave the tree up until January 7th this year, which is next Monday.

If you're the type who wants to continue spreading the joy well into the spring, you might want to check to see if you have any town rules about that. In San Diego, California, you can get a $250 fine if your lights are still up after February 2nd.
