You’ve probably heard that we are supposed to let our phone or laptop batteries drain down to nothing once in awhile to prolong their life...
While that used to be true - it’s not the case anymore. Older devices had nickel-based batteries but today’s are lithium-ion. These batteries are better off with the occasional shallow discharge. That means draining it down to about 50% and plugging it in for a recharge.
It is still a good idea to unplug your device once it’s fully charged to prolong the life of the battery. Their operating sweet-spot is between 40% and 80%. Try to avoid those convenient overnight charges - and overworking your battery while you sleep.
