If you’re feeling under the weather – should you load up on orange juice?


The next time you come down with a cold or illness, skip the orange juice...

It’s loaded with sugars and acids which might make you feel worse. Here are some other foods to avoid when you’re sick:

• Cured Meats: They contain nitrates which are even worse for you when your immune system is down.

• Red Meat: Your body has a hard time breaking down the complex fats which will just slow everything down.

• Nuts: Most types of nuts have a tendency to create a lot of mucus.

• Alcohol: It’s a depressant that will put a strain on your system and counteract any healing.

• Caffeine: It’s hard for our bodies to break down. Limit soda, coffee and chocolate.

• Raw Foods: Veggies are good. Just be sure to cook them first. Raw veggies also make your body work harder than it should when you’re sick.

• Dairy foods: They’re hard to digest and some people experience milk allergies when the immune system is weakened.
