Remember those old fashioned vibrating belt fitness machines? They’re back!

If you’ve ever seen vintage fitness footage...

...it probably included someone standing there, cup of coffee and maybe even a cigarette in hand, with a giant belt around their midsection hooked to a vibrating machine. While users probably didn’t wind up looking like Jack LaLane by using this lazy-man’s fitness machine, there is some new evidence that those vibrating belts could be good for us after all.

Researchers are now suggesting the vibrating belt machines could offer significant clinical benefits for obese people suffering from a wide range of problems related to obesity. They say that daily 15 minute bouts of low-intensity vibration could help immune and bone problems linked with being severely overweight – and they’re working on modernizing the vibrating belt, hoping to combat these common health concerns without drugs.
