A bottle of wine makes an excellent gift...
If it’s not going to be enjoyed by the recipient, at least it will be really easy to re-gift. Jeff Meisel, wine director for Gilt Taste, has some tips to picking the right bottle:
- Don’t be intimidated. Figure out how much you’d like to spend and that will narrow down your choices. Ask for advice and choose something a little less common.
- If it’s a gift for a wine novice – there are some excellent choices for under $30. For someone who’s wine savvy – the $40 to $50 range will buy something special.
- If you’re buying a bottle as a gift for the host and guests to enjoy – look for an inexpensive wine in the 13% alcohol range which is more versatile.
- A bottle of champagne or prosecco is always a nice option. It's bound to be appreciated by the recipient on the 31st.
Everyone enjoys a bottle of champagne, not only drinking it but the cork popping is, in some cases, an adventure, dangerous or just plain enjoyable fun!
