Tossing Your Cookies

When is the last time you deleted your cookies?

We are warned a lot about online privacy – and unfortunately there’s not much we can do to be completely invisible to trackers and scammers.  There are a few things we CAN do to reduce our profile.  Clearing the cookie cache is a start.  Cookies are computer files stored to remind sites who we are and make it easier for them to track our movements online.  By clearing the cookies and deleting those saved files we force them to start from scratch with each visit.

Another profile lowering trick is to visit a browser page before and after each website we land on.  Each site tracks where we came from and where we go from their page.  Visiting a generic site like Yahoo in between each page shortens our profile and says a lot less about our browsing habits.
