Bee Sting Protocol

Should you use tweezers to remove a bee stinger? No!

If you happen to get stung by a bee – don’t dig for tweezers – grab your credit card. According to Michael P. Zimring, author of “Healthy Travel,” using tweezers can actually push more of the bee venom into the skin. We’re better off trying to push the stinger out from the side with the edge of a credit card or another sharp edged object.

The sooner you get that stinger out the better. The faster it comes out – the less pain and swelling you’ll have. The most effective relief for the sting is a paste made from meat tenderizer and water. It breaks down the venom and can ease pain in minutes.
